I am a First Generation Bosnian-American student studying Mechatronics Engineering at CSU – Monterey Bay. Initially I was interested in opening a restaurant so I could share my passion for food and introduce California to Bosnian Cuisine. After entering Intro-Engineering in my last year of high school, all my plans changed. Thanks to my amazing teacher Mrs. Tawana Guillaume, I gained a huge interested in engineering after working with circuits, 3D Modeling/Printing, and designing a bridge out of 3D Printed parts and Balsa Wood.
With the support of Mrs. Guillaume, I was able to focus more on my education and apply to 4 CSU’s for engineering degrees. Initially I applied to CSU – Chico, Sacramento State, and CSU – East Bay for Computer Engineering, and CSU – Monterey Bay for Computer Science. I ended up choosing CSU – Monterey Bay due to their amazing CS program and wonderful cooling weather. As my first year was approaching, I learned that Monterey Bay had a brand new Mechatronics Engineering program, I ended up swapping my major on the spot before I even attended my first CS class.

What inspired you to become an engineer?
My high school Intro-Engineering teacher is my main inspiration on becoming an Engineer.
What types of projects do you work on?
I work on a variety of engineering projects from product prototypes, and innovative fabrication techniques. Each project showcases my skills and creativity in engineering and design.
Do you collaborate with other engineers?
Yes, I often collaborate with other engineers and designers to enhance project outcomes. Teamwork allows us to combine our expertise and create more innovative solutions.
How do you stay updated with industry trends?
I stay updated by attending workshops, reading industry publications, and participating in online forums. Networking with other professionals also helps me gain insights into the latest trends and technologies.
What is your educational background?
I am currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, which will provide me with a solid foundation in technical principles and design methodologies.
